Woodbridge apartment residents live in an area that was on Detroit's outer edge during the streetcar era. Today Woodbridge is anchored in the heart of the expanded city, west of downtown and the Lodge Highway near Grand River Avenue. It is home to t he Contemporary Art Insitute of Detroit.

Homes in Detroit's Woodbridge neighborhood are primarily Victorian in architecture, and a portion of the area has achieved federal historic district status.

Woodbridge apartment-seekers have plenty to choose from. Some of the more modest structures, similar to cottages, were built during the late 1800s. Larger, more ornate properties were developed after the turn of the 20th century. Roughly half of the Woodbridge apartment vacancies are no-bedroom and one-bedroom studios, which makes renting highly affordable. Woodbridge residents are within walking difference of both downtown and midtown Detroit's opportunities for employment, shopping, dining and nightlife.

Detroit's auto industry started to boom after the turn of the 20th Century, which led to construction of concentrated housing in the Woodbridge area. Creation of apartments intensified during World War II, as property owners rented rooms to defense industry workers or carved mansions into multi-rental units.

A transition to lower-middle income took root after World War II, but creation of the Woodbridge Citizen's District Council sparked preservation efforts. The group still exists as the Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corp., creating an opportunity for new Woodbridge apartment tenants to get to know their neighbors.
